OFEA Office for Ecological Architecture is a collaborative architecture collective dedicated to ecology.
Instead of commissioned works or competition entries, the collective is actively involved in ecologically important topics and projects. The majority of the projects originate from proposals for local politicians, citizens' initiatives or foundations. The collective's founding project - the Komturei Werben - began with a conceptual process that the architects initiated together with the municipality for a site that had been vacant for a long time.
The construction sector is not only one of the largest CO2 emitters, but also the largest producer of waste and an important factor for biodiversity.

Through the task and ability of architects to develop coherent concepts, architecture has the potential to make a decisive contribution to the transformation to a post-fossil world, even beyond the built environment.
From OFEA's point of view, this can only succeed if architects become politically, architecturally and socially active and design proposals for a better future. The collective is therefore also an enabling structure for other partners and employees to initiate and realise their own ecological projects.
